Located less than ten miles from the Washington-Oregon state line, Walla Walla Community College enrolls nearly 10,000 students. Founded in 1967, its campus covers approximately 130 acres and extends facilities and programs across four county districts. The College currently offers over 120 degrees and certificates in 89 programs of study.
Scion evaluated enrollment trends and projections, conducted a visioning workshop and stakeholder interviews with Walla Walla Community College faculty, staff, and administration. To understand student interest in on-campus housing, Scion hosted student focus group sessions and conducted an online survey of students’ housing preferences to determine potential demand. The analysis also included an analysis of the conditions of the off-campus rental market and reviewed housing at peer and aspirational institutions as identified by the College. Finally, Scion assisted the institution in understanding the College and student readiness with regards to the overall impact on campus life and services if students were to live on campus.
