In the Fall of 2019, this building opened with a housing complex of 332 students at the top of a tower, with the new Health Sciences Complex making up the first seven floors. The Health Sciences Complex consists of the home of the School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Nutrition. It includes a demonstration kitchen, clinical suites for practical testing, practical nursing labs replicating hospital wards, and simulation centers. The building also features several specialized classrooms and study areas, considering the health science programs that have been built in. The student residence is 100 suites for 332 students and features study rooms, bicycle parking, lounge and common space, and access to the common spaces in the academic centre. The building itself also features a green roof and greywater collection/reuse while achieving LEED Gold compliance.
The P3 structure included a combination of funding from the provincial government for the academic spaces, a build and a 40 year leaseback arrangement for the student housing component with the developer also constructing the academic component. The University is operating the student life functions of the student housing section and the housing admissions processes.
Ryerson University is home to 45,300 students, including 6,200 graduate students, in the heart of Downtown Toronto.
