The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is one of thirteen comprehensive universities in the Wisconsin system and is comprised of three colleges: the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture; the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science; and the College of Liberal Arts and Education. The University grew out of the Platteville Normal School State Teachers College, founded in 1866, and the Wisconsin Mining Trade School, founded in 1908. UW-Platteville currently enrolls approximately 7,500 students, about 2,700 of whom live in campus housing.
Following a competitive proposal process, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville selected a team led by The Scion Group to develop a student housing master plan. The team also included a dining consultant and a design firm. Scion analyzed current and future demand for campus housing, examined potential renovation and new construction options, and provided an analysis of the alignment of campus housing facilities with student needs. Following the evaluation of campus housing demand among various demographic cohorts, Scion developed a business plan exploring the financial feasibility of a range of renovation, renewal, new construction, and phasing options and suggested strategies to support the learning outcomes of student residents.
